but the cable that connects the two extremes. My mp3 on my stereo looks like two connected headset jack. I do not know what is ....

Depending on the input connectors on the stereo. In general, RCA) would be a headphone jack (1:8, stereo) split to two RCA (red and white. Radio Shack would certainly, but I bet that Walmart and Meijer. They would be very common.
